What You Need to Know About Bluestone Vineyard

Located in the center of the beautiful valley, Bluestone Vineyard is named after the “bluestone,” a type of limestone, of which the soil is comprised. So, with the help of friends and family and advice from researchers at Virginia Tech, Curt and Jackie Hartman transformed a hobby into a thriving business and leading wine touring destination in Bridgewater, VA.

The wine is processed in a state-of-the-art facility that has the capacity to produce 5,000 cases of wine annually. Also, it has a computer controlled chilling system that regulates temperatures in each tank as well as a barrel room and finished wine storage. The insulation is so effective that parts of the facility do not need a heating system.

The winery operates Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m.–6 p.m.

The Tasting Room

The Tasting Room is a lovely retreat where visitors can relax and enjoy the scenery. In it, you can sample the vineyard’s finest selections of wine. Its location is designed to maximize the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the winery at the bottom of the hill. Guests can enjoy this scenic location year-round, feeling cozy and warm with the outdoor heaters and fire pit, as they watch the beautiful sunsets.

The Tasting Room offers red, white, sweet and reserve tastings.  And, if you plan to attend with a group of 8 or more, please contact the vineyard in advance to schedule the tasting.

The Tasting Room is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. Their wine tasting fees range from $6 for red, white and sweet wines to $9 for reserve wines.
