Harrisonburg Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony

The evening of the first weekend in December, the whole town of Harrisonburg will be delighted with the Harrisonburg Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by the Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation Department. Bring your family and bundle up in your warmest holiday outfits for this festive event. The parade starts on the corner of Grattan and Main streets and ends at the Rockingham County Office Building on Gay Street. This year’s theme is winter wonderland so come prepared for the crisp air and beautiful floats. The magic doesn’t end when the parade does. Following the parade, Mayor Christopher B. Jones will host the tree lighting ceremony in Court Square. After the tree lighting, stick around for a holiday concert performed by the JMU Marching Royal Dukes. Admission to the parade is free so grab a large group and head downtown to see and feel the Christmas magic.

Harrisonburg Christmas Parade Route

Following the Harrisonburg Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony is the Downtown Holiday Tour throughout historic Harrisonburg. Mark your calendars because this tour is from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday, December 5. For the 8th year in a row, you can tour downtown homes and businesses. With beautiful architecture, rich history, interesting stories, and more opportunities to experience first-hand the Harrisonburg downtown renaissance, this will be one tour you won’t forget. The host location of this tour is the new City Hall building located downtown.

Christmas Arts & Crafts Show

Get your Christmas on at the Christmas Arts & Crafts Show at the Rockingham County Fair. On December 5 and 6 from 9 am to 4 pm you can view beautiful holiday creations from individual vendors. Located in the Exhibit Hall, you will find a large variety of holiday crafts and gift items for everyone on your list. From jewelry to holiday decorations and candles to wreaths, you will definitely find something for those on your list as well as yourself.
