The JMU Planetarium Will Amaze You
Step under the dome and see what we mean. The John C. Wells Planetarium at James Madison University is a $2 million, cutting-edge, hybrid facility meant for research and wonder. Recent updates to the planetarium include a high-resolution digital projection system and a state-of-the-art optomechanical star projector. These upgrades provide an incredible viewing experience for JMU Planetarium audiences. You’ll be full of wonder as you gaze upward into the projected night sky during your guided tour of the galaxy. You’ll learn which constellations are right above your head at any given moment, see planets, asteroids, stars up close and personal, and learn about our very own Sun when it is sunny. It’s the perfect activity for the whole family and will teach you more about our place in the universe. And, the best part? During the academic year, all showings at the JMU Planetarium are free! Seating is limited to 72, though, so be sure to get there early! Showings are on Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:15 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
